Dreamscape Nirvana
Designer: Knight

With Atmosphere you can create that which is in your reality and that which is in your dreams. With DreamScape Nirvana Knight captures a peaceful and relaxing dream he experienced and brings it to us in 3D to enjoy. If you're looking for a calming, serene world to explore you'll want to take a step into this dream.

As soon as you enter DreamScape Nirvana you're treated to the soothing sound of ocean waves hitting the shore. The entry point is set up inside a small pavilion with bed, as if you are waking slightly to walk through the dream. You'll immediately notice use of the lens flare effect, which Knight uses throughout to add a dream-like feel to this world. You'll see the rainforest and ocean in the background as you walk out of the pavilion to explore.

Two 'must see' effects in this world are the waterfall and the ocean waves. The waterfall coming in through an opening simulates the foam at the bottom very nicely, and the way the waves roll up and lap on the shore before going back out to rise again, is quite close to what you see when you're at the beach. A great effect to watch in action, and one that goes with the accompanying sound perfectly.

The lighting is done to give the contrast of dark shadows and bright light, which adds to the overall dream-like environment. All the elements from the palm trees to the lovely sky texture to the lone swing cast in shadow blend beautifully together as you explore and soak in the serenity. Load time on this world is very fast, which is always a bonus.

DreamScape Nirvana is the perfect place to visit for a relaxing and beautiful surrounding, and Knight does a wonderful job of using the 'atmosphere' element through sound and effects to bring his dream to life. (See below for screenshots)

The pavilion with bed. Done with transparent viewpoint in aqua on the walls giving a serene feel.
The palm trees throughout are very well modeled to add interest.
The bottom of the waterfall, with that great foaming action.
Waterfall from the top, looking down as it cascades to the bottom.
And example of the lense flare effect used to add the 'dream' element throughout the world.
The ocean wave effect is truly one to see, as the waves roll up and lap onto the shore.
