Blackberry Torch sees a massive improvement with social networking |
One of the main reasons that smartphone users purchase the latest and
greatest handsets is to keep in touch with friends and family. One
massive demand of current handsets is social networking integration -
this was a huge criticism that was aimed Research in Motion's maiden
touchscreen mobile phones voyage with the Blackberry Storm...
RIM have taken this criticism onboard with their latest venture, the
new Blackberry Torch, and made sure that they are improving access to
the most popular social networking features. The Blackberry Torch
features a new operating system in the form of the Blackberry OS6.
Although this new operating system will be extremely familiar looking
to those who have laid their hands on the Blackberry Storm I or II,
there are plenty of improvements that will entice new users as well as
pleasing the die-hard Blackberry fans out there.
Among the new operating systems many improvements is the inclusion of
many Social Feeds apps, which shows status updates from the most
popular social networking websites, including Facebook or Twitter. Of
course, one of the Blackberry's most popular social networking tools is
also a staple on the Blackberry Torch: Blackberry Messenger. Blackberry
Messenger allows people to keep in touch with users of Windows Live,
Yahoo!, Google Chat and AIM.
There is also the ability to synchronise the Blackberry Torch is
GoogleMail, as well as pushing IMAP and POP3 email to the handset.
There are plenty of shortcuts and quick-launch buttons for the most
popular applications, which make navigation of the Blackberry Torch
much more simplified that its predecessors.
Due to a lack of apps when compared to the prolific amount offered by
Apple's iPhone, the Blackberry Torch still has some way to go to please
the most 'switched on' social networking enthusiasts out there;
however, RIM have shown that they can listen to popular demand and make
the necessary changes to turn their products into something that the
modern consumer will
truly appreciate.
